Home Woes

So problems with domestic help carries on at home. The maid has vanished. Literally. Stopped calling on her cellphone.
Looking for a maid is tough. Tough for me.
I mean, if I ask around, I will get maids coming in, looking for work.
The issue is, the talking and interviewing will have to be done by Dad. And he is not up to it, He says he does not know what to ask and wants me to be there.

I did speak to a maid here that I know. She has had a death in her family and said she will join back in the middle of the month. So, maybe will have to wait till then.

Weekend I just used the broom to sweep the house. May have to manage like that till I get someone to clean up.

Maid Woes

The Maid issues continue. She comes for two days. Then two days off. On the second day, she will turn up in the evening with a story of being very sick and say she will come from the next day.

Searching and getting new maids is also a pain. Have to do something for sure.

More on the Maid Strike

Finally the strike concluded Saturday night. From Sunday the maids began coming.

Here is what I could find out.

1. The maids have a very strong union here. Most of the maids are part of the union.
2. When a maid was caught stealing, she was handed over to the police and a FIR was filed. The union of the maids are against this.
3. The maid caught stealing was a Muslim woman and the union is citing intolerance as the excuse and not robbery.


So now the complex has issued some Dos and Do Nots.

1. Do not trust the maids blindly.
2. Do not leave valuables lying around the house.
3. Do not give notice to your maids right before Diwali when they want Bonus.

I am not sure I see a Do here. Just a list of Do Not.

And now my complex is telling everyone to go buy a vacuum cleaner and a dishwasher and get rid of the maids. That simple??

Maid Problems here

Maid Problem going on in my complex. Only my housing complex is affected.
Wednesday evening someone in my complex beat up their maid. Not sure of the reason. Some are saying the maid was caught stealing. Others saying, the guys has a very bad temper and when the maid said something this person lost his temper.

So all maids are on strike. Not sure what the demands of the strike are, but the maids are not working. And they are not let anyone come and work either.

So today had to clean up the house alone. Tomorrow also the same, probably.

Dealing with my maid

Dealing with the maid is becoming a new issue now.
On weekdays when Dad is home, she comes and does what she feels like. Dad is the last person who will say anything to her. She cleans up the way she wants and leaves. And she manages to clean up the house, do dishes, wash clothes and then leaves in 20 - 30 minutes. If I started cleaning up the house myself, it will take me 3 hours for sure .
Weekends I run behind her. So last weekend, Saturday she came and told me she is not liking the work, because Mom is not there. I felt like telling her, you are lucky, if Mom was there, she would have kicked you out by now.
She took a day off on Sunday, and was to make up for that on Monday. She did not.
Saturday I will need to talk to her.
