Yesterday I left at 6:30 and walked home. Just as I entered my complex off went the power.
Good. So went home and then had to think of a meal.
I had no plans of making khichuri. But in dark, and with the reliable microwave not functioning without electricity, had no other options.
So, in a pan, heated some oil. Off late I have started using rice bran oil. To me its like any other 'white oil' or 'vegetable oil'.
Anyway, in oil, some bay leaves , then soaked red lentils and rice.
After stirring I realized, ginger garlic was missing.
So in went that.
Then frying a bit, till the aroma changed slightly, I added some turmeric and chilly powder.
Then a bit of a mix and added some water.
Then let it boil.
In the mean time, I had planned for laundry. So clothes in the machine, detergent in the compartment, just waiting for electricity to come.
When electricity came (at 9) , my food was ready and laundry started.
I went off to bed around 10, and am back again today, for another LONG day.
