Juices

Fruit juices are something common in Delhi. Roadside vendors with juicers and food processors, and piles of fruits.

Here in Bangalore, also I see a lot many juice stalls on the road. But there is a difference.

The fruit in Delhi, is juiced out using a juicer. If I need an orange juice in Delhi, the juice vendor will put peeled oranges in the juicer, and if it an manual one, then the handle will move, and pulp will fall out and the juice will trickle out.

Here, if I am in need of an orange juice, the orange will be peeled and put in a food processor with some water. And the fruit with seeds will get churned and then strained and served.

Also, here they can juice any fruit. Avocados are a classic example. This is a mushy fruit. No one can juice this. So what do they do here? They take the fruit and de-seed it (Thank God, the avocado seed is big). Then the pulp goes in the processor, with milk and sugar. And this is called Butter Fruit Juice.

Only after coming here, I came to know of a sweet avocado shake (I can it that). Before this, I was aware of guacamole.

I make my own version of guacamole here. Minus the garlic and onion. Just avocados, little lemon juice, chopped green pepper and salt. And if I have olives at home, I add that.

That was my breakfast today. Avocado toast. Mashed avocados on soft toast.
