In English that is what would be its closest translation. In Bengali it is Sesh Anka.
When I heard the name Sesh Anka , I was reminded of the 1950s English thriller Chase a Crooked Shadow, on which the 1960s Bengali movie Sesh Anka was based.
I remember the Uttam Sharmila Sabitra starrer movie vividly. The 1960s movie had been produced by Kanan Devi and produced by her husband Haridas Bhattacharya. Uttam Kumar keeps telling the world that his wife is dead and Sabitri keeps insisting she is the wife.
Chase a Crooked Shadow has been remade many times.
When I came across the 2015 movie I thought another remake. Anyway Deepankar De, June Maliya, Sankar Chakraborty starrer and a good review in Times of India made me watch this.
When I started watching this, the first few minutes of a backless woman, and I was uncomfortable watching it with my dad.
Finally I though of watching it today.
As usual I was up early. So around 6AM I started watching Sesh Anka.
1. Its not a remake of the earlier namesake
2. Its a nice thriller
3. Not nail biting suspense but you keep guessing who the murderer is
4. Thank God there are no songs or dances. Actually there is a Usha Uthup song somewhere on the background.
5. Good actors.
6. Parno Mitra as usual had to smoke in this movie also.
7. Good to see Deepankar De in a substantial role
8. The reason why Payel takes drugs is stupid (Payel is a character, not the 'neka' Bengali actress)
Overall a nice movie to watch.
